QUALITY & ETHICS: HOW DO WE RETHINK OUR CONSUMPTION?

-

01. A Fair and Transparent Supply Chain

We believe it's crucial that our timeless collections are crafted within a fair and transparent supply chain, protecting fair labor conditions, living wages, worker health and safety, and animal welfare. We're constantly working towards making our entire supply chain align with our values, and we acknowledge that this is a work in progress.

What we've accomplished:

  • 95% of our collection is produced in Europe.
  • Four certifications for B Corp, GOTS (The Global Organic Textile Standard), GRS (Recycled materials), and RAF (Responsible Animal Fibers).
  • The use of GOTS-certified organic cotton has grown to 20.5%.
  • All of our suppliers have signed our code of conduct, and we publish our supplier names online.
  • We are a member of amfori BSCI, using audits to get insight into factory compliance and helping working conditions in risk countries.
  • Reduced our Scope 1 and 2 CO2 footprint by nearly 30% from 2022 to 2023 by cutting energy use at HQ and using green electricity in our stores.
  • Provide more transparency for every article on the website concerning the location of production, the origin of materials and certification status.
-

Our goals for 2028:

  • Maintain 95%* of our production in Europe.
  • Reduce waste & introduce repair services.
  • Expand our circular initiatives (including recycling, upcycling, and upscaling our Pre-Loved program).
  • Increase the percentage of certified materials used.
  • Safeguard safe working conditions and fair wages throughout our supply chain.
  • Safeguard animal welfare.
  • Combate pollution of water and soil.
  • Measure and report on the achieved impacts.

All suppliers outside of Europe are consciously chosen and subject to due diligence. Our goal is to fully transition to European suppliers as soon as possible, enhancing our commitment to sustainability and transparency.

*For the remaining 5% of our production, materials are either unavailable in Europe or sourced elsewhere for better quality purposes. Occasionally, our Portuguese suppliers may procure trimmings like zippers from Asia, but we strive to minimise this.

02. Material certifications

10DAYS is certified by B Corp, the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS), the Global Recycle Standard (GRS) and the Responsible Animal Fiber standards (RAS, RMS, and RWS). This certifications reflect our dedication to sustainability, social responsibility and animal welfare throughout our entire production chain. This not only aligns with our commitment to creating lasting, eco-friendly products, but also strengthens our pledge to foster a transparent and inclusive environment for all involved.

The Global Organic Textile Standard:
GOTS is an independent standard for the manufacturing and processing of organic natural fibres. GOTS certification guarantees sustainability throughout the entire production process. A product can only be certified when every stage of the production chain, from farming to spinning, weaving to knitting, dyeing, printing, and the use of trims and accessories, is certified. GOTS requires a minimum content of 70% certified organic material and has strict limitations on other materials that are used in the mix. All GOTS-certified products and packaging must comply with the chemical restrictions of the standard.

GOTS-certified facilities need to have highly effective wastewater treatment and recycling systems that protect local ecosystems and communities from pollution.

Additionally, GOTS has social compliance criteria that must be followed at every stage, ensuring employment is freely chosen, people do not work excessive working hours, earn fair wages and have safe and respectful workplaces.

The Global Recycle Standard:

GRS is a voluntary product standard for tracking and verifying the content of recycled materials in a final product. The standard applies to the full supply chain and addresses traceability, environmental principles, social requirements, chemical content and labelling.

The Responsible Animal Fibers standards:
At the farm level, each standard addresses animal welfare, land management and social welfare, throughout the supply chain, the identity of the certified material is preserved through a robust chain of custody system.

Fabric and care:
We craft our timeless, seasonless collections using the most sustainable materials available, minimizing environmental impact while ensuring longevity and quality. Our long-lasting products allow people to consume less over time, reducing waste and promoting a more sustainable lifestyle.

-

What we've accomplished:

  • 23% of all materials we used in 2024 were sustainable.
  • The use of GOTS-certified organic cotton has grown to 20.5% in 2024.
  • We've used recycled materials, leftover materials, and upcycled old stock, all adding to a reduction of resource use.

Our goals for 2028:

  • To have 40% of the collection produced using sustainable fabrics.
  • 30% of the collection will be certified.
  • Certified responsible animal materials will be the default option in our collections.

03. People and organisation

Our people and organization are at the heart of our brand, embodying our values. It is only natural that we practice what we preach, and act accordingly. As a B Corp and GOTS-certified company, we are committed to ethical and sustainable practices that respect both the planet and the individuals who contribute to our success. This means social compliance criteria must be followed at every stage, ensuring employment is freely chosen, people do not work excessive working hours, earn fair wages and have safe and respectful workplaces. We believe in fostering an inclusive, supportive, and inspiring workplace where individuals can thrive. We invest in our teams, offering opportunities for personal growth and professional development, ensuring that everyone has the chance to reach their full potential.

As an organisation, we have an impact on the environment we work in and where our products are made. We are aware of the pollution that we cause by producing, operating, selling and through customers wearing and discarding items. We aim to mitigate our footprint through a conscious use of resources and avoiding unnecessary waste, as well as offer solutions for prolonged use with our Pre-Loved program. Every year we measure our organisation's footprint, and in 2025 we will start measuring product footprints too.

We strive to play an active role in transitioning to a circular industry. With our timeless, lasting collections, we see immense potential in inspiring and motivating everyone to slow down fashion alongside us. We plan to do that by enhancing the social and environmental positive impact of our products and organization. We focus on three themes and collaborate with expert partners to accelerate change and develop sustainable solutions for the future.

We currently have two circular initiatives that focus on the steps we take to limit waste, save resources, and be considerate towards the environment. And we're always looking for new ways to improve and discover more opportunities for sustainability.
